What should I wear under a backless dress?
A backless dress needs a line that disappears at the back, and a piece that does not need adjusting all night.
Measure first, then choose the shape. Between sizes, take the larger.

Look at the back, not just the front
A deep scoop, a halter, a cross-back and a fully open back are different problems. Check where the fabric sits and whether a strap would show. If the dress has built-in cups or boning, you may only need a smooth brief; if it has no support, a bodysuit with a low back is usually easier than a conventional bra.
