Behind the mask No. 44
How do we plan a masquerade roleplay at home?
A mask hides very little and changes the room anyway.
Lace Index — 2,491 lingerie styles, S–3XL, selected 4XL, $9.90–$47.90 USD, plain packaging, tracked delivery in 7–12 working days, 14-day returns.
Measure first, then choose the shape. Between sizes, take the larger.
Match the piece to the outfit, the light and how long you will wear it.

A mask changes very little and everything at once; Lace Index stocks roleplay costumes and lingerie in S–3XL, with selected 4XL, shipped in plain packaging. It hides enough of the face to let a role feel separate, while leaving the person entirely recognisable to the partner who chose to be there. Masquerade roleplay works best as a private party of two: low light, a dress code and an agreed hour. The point is not to hide, but to be seen differently for an hour.

01
The private party
You do not need guests. Set a dress code, choose a room and decide when the party starts and ends. A few candles, a playlist and a drink are enough. The point is the atmosphere of an occasion, not a crowd. Keeping it private also means nobody else is pulled into the fiction without consent, and neither of you has to manage a room while trying to stay in the mood. Keep the guest list at two and the dress code short enough to remember.
02
Choosing the mask
A simple mask is better than an elaborate one. It should be comfortable, allow clear speech and not block your vision. Try it on beforehand and check that you can drink, sit and lean in while wearing it. Decide whether the mask stays on for the whole scene or comes off at an agreed moment. Pin your hair loosely and keep a mirror nearby for adjustments. A mask that ties at the back is easier to adjust than one that clips, and it survives being taken off in a hurry.
03
Dressing under the mask
The outfit should feel like something you would wear to a party you were not hosting. A lace bunny set, a corset with stockings, a slip under a robe. Dark colours and texture suit the mood. Keep the layers simple so the reveal is not a struggle with hooks in low light. Choose the piece you can take off without help if you need to. Jewellery that catches the light is a cheap way to make the room feel dressed.
04
Mystery with consent
The fantasy of not quite knowing your partner is a game played by two people who know each other well. Agree what the mask is for: shyness, theatricality, a different role. If either of you wants to see the other's face, the mask comes off. Nothing in the fiction overrides a request, and a request does not need a reason. If you want the mask to stay on, say so; if you want it off, that is not a failure of the game.
05
The unmasking
End the scene by removing the mask deliberately. That gesture is often the most intimate part. Turn up the light, change clothes and talk. Ask what the mask let each of you do that you would not normally do, and whether you want to keep any of it. The answer might be small: a slower entrance, a steadier voice, a willingness to be looked at. Leave the mask somewhere visible the next morning as a private joke between you.

How do we plan a masquerade roleplay at home?

No. Most couples stage it privately at home with no guests at all.
Will the mask ruin my makeup?+
It can. Choose a light mask, check the fit before the evening and keep makeup simple.
